About me

A Brief Bio......
Growing up in the late 80's/early 90's, my background in physical culture and fitness started at the age of 5 after being influenced from watching such Saturday morning shows as He-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The A Team....etc.

I immediately persuaded my father to enroll me at our local judo club along with my older brother and became hooked.

From there, my interest in martial arts grew and after just 2 years of training in Judo, I joined the local Karate club as well.

I continued to pursue both disciplines for a number of years and also became involved in competitive swimming around the same time.

For close to a decade I was actively involved in all 3 sports; competing and winning several local and regional level championships over several years.

In my early teens, my family relocated and I took a few years off from sports training.

A few years later I got involved in Chinese martial arts (Wing Chun Kung Fu, Sanshou and WuShu specifically) where I was fortunate enough to tour with the Chinese National Wushu Team at the age of 15 for their UK touring show "The Legend of Wushu".

Unfortunately, I sustained a serious knees injury whilst training for my first British National Competition at the age of 18 and was forced to take a hiatus from training.

After a rather frustrating period of about 2 years and several house moves - I began resistance/weight training as a way to rehab and build up the muscles I had been unable to train and was soon "bitten by the iron bug" which is when I found a new passion.

The rest as they say - is history.

About me as a Trainer.....

As a trainer I believe in keeping things simple - no frills, no fads, no gimmicks.

While I am interested in the latest technologies and developments in sport and exercise science, I believe discipline and consistency are the keys to progress and any program or exercise regime is only as effective as a person's effort and willingness to succeed.

Your training will reflect your own individual needs and capabilities and not based on the latest exercise fads or fashions.

I am not a "Drill Sargent" or boot camp type trainer who will yell or use cheap motivational jargon.....my job is to empower you and build you, not break you down.
I want you to feel good and actually enjoy training rather than see it as a chore.

While I will expect you to work hard and will help push and motivate you, there is no greater motivation than the feeling of accomplishment you will get from achieving a goal you set yourself and the confidence and strength of discipline it will give you.

Perhaps you feel self conscious or feel intimidated about hiring a trainer or going to the gym because of a perception you have from television, media programs or exercise fads you've tried in the past.

My goal as a trainer is to guide you and help you gain confidence in exercise, putting YOU in control of your own health and fitness.
